Grunewald Guild - Celebrating the relationships between Art and Faith since 1980

Come during our glorious season of fall foliage! Our Fall Program features several intensive weekend workshops, and a few opportunities for extended study. We also open our campus to faculty as Artists-in-Residence. Come for a weekend workshop or for a week or more of independent art-making in our extensive studio facilities. Enjoy the community and inspiration of master artists as they explore their craft.

"Chanting the Psalms" with the Center for Sacred Art, Sept. 19-21

A weekend residential retreat exploring chanting the Psalms in a variety of translations and ways--from Western-style Gregorian chant and Eastern Orthodox chant, to Protestant metrical settings, to Taize-style chants. We will also explore improvised melodies and chant styles influenced by global chant traditions. Singing experience is helpful but by no means necessary. As part of the weekend you'll have the opportunity to explore Psalm texts through simple but creative mandala calligraphy projects. For more information, see www.centerforsacredarts.org.

"The Real C.S. Lewis" with Connie and Dan Rice, October 10-12

An introduction to the life and writings of C. S. Lewis. Sessions will include such topics as the Chronicles of Narnia, Christian Imagination and the Arts, and the Theology of Lewis. Films, discussion groups and a Saturday afternoon tea (Lewis always had tea at 4:00) are featured in a weekend that is sure to stimulate both long-time Lewis admirers and make new ones.
